It ain't about nudity: Sherlyn welcomes Playboy in India

Playboy's iconic 'bunnies' will serve drinks at the brand's first club in the country, which will open despite a nationwide ban on the adult magazine

An Indian firm with rights to the Playboy brand will launch the club in the holiday state of Goa in December - the first of 120 clubs, hotels, fashion cafes and shops planned over the next 10 years.

Sanjay Gupta, chief executive of PB Lifestyle, said the famous bunny costume of a skimpy corset with a fluffy rabbit tail and ears would be adapted to suit India's conservative values, and he stressed no nudity would be involved.

`Bunnies are an integral part of Playboy clubs, ` he said. `For the obvious reasons of Indian morality and sensibilities, we can't follow the traditional costumes that Playboy bunnies are associated with.`


The new outfits will be revealed at the club's launch at its 22, 000-square-foot premises on Candolim beach in north Goa. Playboy, along with a host of other foreign `adult` magazines, is not permitted in India owing to obscenity laws banning material deemed `lascivious`.

Bollywood actress Sherlyn Chopra became the first Indian woman to pose naked for Playboy magazine this year, causing something of a stir in the country.

`Super excited! It ain't about nudity... (it is) about introducing a lifestyle of fun (and) glamour, ` Chopra said via Twitter after plans for the new club were revealed.

Skyfall is the 23rd spy film in the iconic James Bond series. Produced by Eon Productions and distributed by MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment, the movie repeats Daniel Craig as James Bond (his 3rd appearance as 007 after Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), and Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's villain. The film is directed by Sam Mendes and written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Mendes was approached to direct the film after the release of Quantum of Solace in 2008. Production was suspended when MGM encountered financial troubles, and did not resume until December 2010; during this time, Mendes remained attached to the project as a consultant. The original screenwriter, Peter Morgan, left the project during the suspension.

When production resumed, Logan, Purvis and Wade continued writing what became the final version of the script, whilst incorporating Morgan's ideas. Filming began in November 2011, and primarily took place in the United Kingdom, China and Turkey.

In the movie, Bond emerges mysteriously even after his obituary has been written by MI6 head M (Judi Dench). Though Bond has been shown to be ageing and his reflexes are slowing, he is the first choice of M to uncover an attack on M by hitherto unknown villain, who later transpires to be a former MI6 operative, Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem). Raoul is sour with M for ditching him when he is working for MI6 but he is accused by M for not sticking to the brief.

After attacking the headquarters of MI6 in London, Raoul hacks the classified information from the internal security system of the secret service of Britain.

Bond travels to Shanghai and Macau to encounter a blonde Raoul who has his vengeful agenda against M. This maverick gets himself caught, thanks to Severine (Berenice Marlohe), to attend to his bigger and evil design of personal vendetta which spills out on the streets of London. This film just isn't about Bond. It is more about his relationship with M; it is about M and her journey over the years as the head of secret service.

The climax takes place in Bond's ancestral house at Scotland aptly named 'Skyfall'. Due to Raoul's superiority with technology and resources, Bond takes M to this place and coaxes Q to throw breadcrumbs so that Raoul follows them where they could be running an advantage. Raoul falls into the honeycomb trap of Bond.

The end happens with a new M emerging in Gareth Mallory (Ralph Fiennes) after Judi Dench play this role to perfection in 7 Bond films; and Naomie Harris as the new Eve Moneypenny.


Sam Mendes, the director of the latest James Bond film, is known to play with the mind of the audience with his films. He had done it in 'American Beauty' and 'The Revolutionary Road' and now he does it in 'Skyfall'.

In spite of having slick gadgets, the best secret agent on board, Mendes evolves a story which is heavily dependent on psychological mind games- where each character has an internal battle to fight.

Daniel Craig exudes raw sex appeal and his machismo makes Bond a delectable character. The film makes the most famous secret agent appear very real. He has his own set of insecurities; he fumbles with weapons after coming back to work after a sabbatical, fails physical tests and fights his own childhood demons. And Craig is just fits the bill perfectly.

The film also makes the villain, Javier Bardem, appear larger than life and 'bigger' than the hero. Just like Heath Ledger's Joker act surpassed Batman in 'The Dark Knight'; Mendes makes Silva a menacing hero in many of the frames. And what a superb evil hero Bardem makes!

With blonde hair and eyebrows, Bardem gives a brilliant performance as the crazy, lunatic, venomous Silva who makes you cringe and laugh at the same time. He is smooth and even makes Bond uncomfortable with his 'ways'.

The emphasis of the film shifts to basics, when Bond relies on knowledge and tradition in cornering Raoul. And this certainly would stand as the highpoint. A new Q emerges as impressive who relies more on computers rather than on gadgets and weaponry.

The talented actress Judi Dench gets a meaty role as M, and mouths poetry and reprimands Bond with equal elan. Berenice Marlohe enjoys a short but meaningful role as the Bond babe, which she plays to perfection. Her trembling fingers and speech conveys as to why she's been picked over so many other aspiring actors to play the Bond girl. Naomie Harris could have been given more meaningful role but whatever little role she was given, plays it convincingly.

The movie has been shot beautifully. The colourful sky shots of Shanghai, the busy subway in London to a morbid cold Scotland countryside - all are captured brilliantly by cinematographer Roger Deakins.

Sam Mendes apes Christopher Nolan in many of the scenes. Bond's dialogue "A storm is coming", while revisiting his past aptly conveys it. Many of the shots during the climax, Silvia's eccentricities remind you of Nolan's Batman series.

Though James Bond movies have achieved cult status through its larger than life persona of its hero and ahead of times gadgetry and sequences, which leaves the audience awe-stuck. However, Tom Cruise has emerged as the new trail-blazer in this field of extra-ordinary action through his Mission Impossible series and not without reason.


The franchise of 007 has been struggling off late and as a result, we see the Bond movies to be few and far between. Thus MI movies filled the void with expansive and expensive star cast and screenplay, which are found amiss from this latest Sam Mendes flick. However, he must have had his limitations with ageing M, and also James Bond. So the decent burial given to M (Judi Dench) was necessitated.

There is no denying the fact that Skyfall, though low on budget and gadgetry gives a new meaning to this franchise. There's no doubting the fact that though this movie is about change and transformation, we shall be experiencing the next version of Bond in a totally new avatar.

The verdict is that this movie cannot be missed and salute to Sam Mendes and the team for beautifully summarising the 50 illustrious years of this bra

Khushi to confront Sheetal in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon

Khushi (Sanaya Irani) was all excited as she kept her first Karva Chauth and got all the love and attention from husband Arnav (Barun Sobti) in Star Plus’ highly popular Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon.

However, all her excitement and happiness just faded away as she saw Sheetal (Madhura Naik) had also observed the fast for Arnav. Later, her doubt got firm when she came across the duplicate copy of the DNA report she had earlier torn away.

Khushi gets completely shattered as the report stands positive thus making Arnav, Aarav’s (Vishesh Bansal) biological father. Soon she will confront Sheetal about the same, who will plead to Khushi for not disclosing the same to Arnav. However, Khushi will make Arnav aware of everything which is bound to create a tiff between the two. Arnav would be adamant over not accepting Aarav as his child, moreover, he will not even believe Sheetal’s claim.

Sources even say that the viewers will finally get to know the real identity of Aarav and it will be proved that Arnav is not his father. Meanwhile, the show will witness certain changes amidst which both Payal (Deepali Pansare) and Akash (Akshay Dogra) will be shown leaving for abroad. This is to mark their exit from the show as the two were keen to quit the daily. The production house is not interested in bringing a replacement and hence their exit has been planned this way.

Well, we do hope all the buzz stands true and Arnav and Khushi get over this Sheetal trouble very soon!

Star Plus new offering Veera wooing audience with its overwhelming story

The team of Star Plus’ latest offering Veera is happy over the healthy response from the audience. The show, which started off a week ago is doing quite well on TRP meter and gaining impressive viewership. The story of Punjabi background and little kid Ranvijay (Bhavesh Balchandani) is new for audience and said to have liked by each age group.

Talking about the story, Veera is a show with various emotions simultaneously. It is a journey of a brother, who becomes a mother to his sister.

Well, few episodes are already over which have shown Ranvijay’s  family, house, native place and most importantly his zeal of having a sister in his life. Now after light hearted sequences, high point drama is on its way which will show Ratan (Sneha Wagh, Ranvijay’s mother) discovering about her husband Sampooran's (Sudhanshu Pandey) love child. Amrita (Astha Chaudhary) came to the doorstep of Sampooran's house with her baby girl in tow saying that her days on Earth are numbered. She had no choice but to come to Sampooran's threshold as her child will need a home after she is no more.

Ratan is shell shocked to learn that the husband she trusted unflinchingly has been disloyal to her. She locks herself in a room, crying in anger and anguish and takes off every piece of shringar from her body and wipes off her sindoor too.

Ranvijay sources a rakhi despite Rakshabandhan being over. With all his unalloyed innocence the boy is overjoyed when his dad tells him the candid truth that the baby is his sister. And thus he will now become a mother to Veera!

The Karva Chauth day is celebrated for the sake of the devine relationship between a husband and a wife. The day has greater significance in Hindu religion and is celebrated mostly in the Northern India. However, the day is celebrated by some Sikh wives also in the Punjab region of India.
On the Karva Chauth Day, from the sun rise, the wives start to fast compromising their hunger and thirst for their husbands’ long lives. The fast continues till the sun set and when the moon rises in the sky, the women break their fasts by drinking water from the hands of their husbands.

The Karva Chauth day comes on the fourth day of the Kartik month of Hindu calendar wich is a lunisolar calendar.

History behind Karva Chauth

Karva Chauth has a significant history of Satyavan and his wife Savitri. It has bee said that Lord Yamraj came over the earth to take the soul of Satyavan along with him, but Savitri begged and prayed to leave her husband.
Lord Yamraj was not impressed and took the soul of Satyavan. After the incident, Savitri started fast by not taking food and water. Yamraj told her to compromise for her husband’s boon instead of his life. Savitri then asked the blessings of children. Yama agreed and thus he had to release the soul in Satyavan’s body again as Savitri being a devoted wife, could have children only from Satyavan.
So, now here are the timings of the moon rise in various parts of various countries, which thus will ease the wives to open their fast by moving in an open space or the higher latitudes in time.

Two inmates to get evicted from Bigg Boss 6 this week

Nominations in the Bigg Boss 6 house are getting tougher with every passing day. As seen, this time Bigg Boss ended up making five of the inmates getting nominated with the likes of Navjot Singh Siddhu, Sampat Pal, Sapna Bhavnani, Aseem Trivedi and Karishma Kotak.

Out of the five, Siddhu and Aseem ended up being nominated owing to the punishment they had to face on behalf of Sapna and Karishma. For those unaware, last week, Bigg Boss had rebuked Karishma and Sapna for fiddling with the mike and talking in English constantly despite the reminders given. As a result, he announced that the inmates whom the two ladies like the most will apparently pay for their fault. And as they had earlier named Siddhu and Aseem being their favorites, the two men fell for the punishment.    

However, Siddhu has been saved all thanks to captain of the week Delnaaz Irani. And now the competition is between Sapna, Aseem, Sampat and Karishma. Buzz states that RPI (Republican Party of India) is demanding to oust controversial cartoonist Aseem Trivedi. And if the channel gives up to their demand then we might have two people getting evicted this week.

So let’s see who bids adieu to the house this time after Dinesh Lal Yadav, Kashif Qureshi and Sayantni Ghosh!

Ojaswi Oberoi and Sanjay Sawarj in Life OK's Devon Ke Dev Mahadev

We had already updated about Life OK’s Devon Ke Dev Mahadev pondering over introducing the Bhasmasur track, where the demon faced a comic end while striving to gain mortality.   

As per mythological beliefs, Bhasmasur is the one who gets a boon from Mahadev (Mohit Raina) to convert anything into ashes just by his touch. In return, Bhasmasur tries the ash trick on lord Shiva but fails and ends up transferring Shiva into a bird.

It is said that while Bhasmasur runs after Shiv to turn him into ashes, the Lord confides into Lord Vishnu, who in return disguises as a beautiful Mohini and woos Bhasmasur. While dancing with the eternal beauty, the demon accidentally keeps his hand on his hand and is thus burnt into ashes. In the show, Lord Shiva will seek help from Vishnu played by Saurab Raj Jain.

Sources say that as Vishnu will turn into Mohini, we will get to see Ojaswi Oberoi last seen in Life OK's Aasman Se Aage, playing the said role. Meanwhile, Bhasmasur will be played by Sanjay Swaraj.

Let us now see how the makers mould this tale in a captivating manner!

Simran Kaur to play the haunted soul in Sony TV's Anamika

As a debut producer, Vikas Seth is all set with his unique show titled as Anamika which will be aired on Sony TV.

So far it is known that Annie Gill and Mudit Nayyer are to play the lead pair and the promos featuring the two are already on air. However, we are sure that the viewers must have noticed an evil shadow in the teasers, which is said to create troubles for the love birds.

Well, if you failed to figure the face out then let us spill the beans here making you aware that the evil face is of Simran Kaur, whom we saw as the parallel lead in Colors’ Na Aana Is Des Laado. Simran has been roped to play the ghost in the daily. As per a source, Simran's character though being a ghost will act like other normal living beings but actual has a bad motive to destroy the lead couple's happiness. All thanks to the bad past with the lead guy.

The show has a simple love triangle concept with a super natural touch that makes the show unique and an eye grabber. Buzz further states that Anamika is to launch sometimes in next month and if sources are to be believed Sony TV's Love Marriage Ya Arrange Marriage will have to bare the burnt to make way for Anamika.

Ashish Sharma and Archana Taide get engaged

The very much in love couple, Ashish Sharma, who plays Ranveer in Zee TV’s Rab Se Sohna Isshq, and Archana Taide, got engaged in a private ceremony last week.

It is notable that Archana was in the past dating Pracheen Chauhan but the split got her close to Ashish, who is fetching attention from all or his acts in the show Rab Se Sohna Isshq. The two dated for a while and then decided upon taking the marital vows. As heard the ring exchange ceremony was a family affair with only a close few attending the do. Their co-stars and friends from the industry put in an appearance as they wished the couple. The pair will tie the knot on January 30.

Ashish said, "We met in Baroda while I was shooting for Chandragupta Maurya and she had come to shoot for Mahima Shani Dev Ki. Since then, we have been going strong." When asked what he likes best in Archana, Ashish said, "Pretty much everything. But I am spent on her smile."

As Archana is a Christian and Ashish a Brahmin, the marriage will take place in three different ways — one, according to Hindu tradition in Jaipur, the Christian wedding will happen in Goa and then, a court marriage.

Talking of Ashish, Archana said, "He is really a good soul with strong values. While a fiancé generally gives you gifts, Ashish has given me my confidence back as I met him during the lowest phase of my life."

Shresth Kumar is all elated about playing Vivan in Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage

After entertaining the masses with his stint in Colors’ Na Aana Is Des Laado, actor Shresth Kumar has now entered Sphere Origins’ Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage aired on Sony TV.

Last episode saw how Shresth (Vivan) entered the club where Mansi (Samaira Rao) was seen trying to learn tennis. Upon seeing her struggling to play the game, he helped her understand it. This is when Mansi asks him to coach her and the scene freezes there.

Sources say that the actor will play a well-known tennis coach. And since Mansi wants to learn to play tennis, he will agree to coach her. However it’s only later that he will learn that Mansi is Anoop’s (Himmanshoo Malhotra) wife. This will be shocking news for Vivan as he and Anoop had been competitors in the past.

Talking of the role, Shresth said, “I have never played a coach before and that is why I couldn’t have missed this opportunity.”

Rahul Mahajan and wife Dimpy likely to showcase their dance talent in Nach Baliye

Latest buzz making way from telly arena has that reality show couple Rahul Mahajan and wife Dimpy are likely to participate in reality dance show Nach Baliye. The couple has been approached for the fifth season of the dance reality show, which will go on air in the next few months.

And though they are keen to participate, the only hitch is Rahul's dancing skills. "I can't sing or dance. There is no sense of rhythm in my body; I can't even dance in pubs. I gave 16 takes for a 30-second dance step in Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. I don't want to make a fool of myself.

But yes, my partner will be strong as Dimpy is a good dancer and she is keen to do the show. I guess even if I make mistakes, it will be okay as people will be curious to see a non-dancer dance," says Rahul. He adds, "I am neither confirming nor denying. But I am positive and interested in doing it."

Other couple, who are likely to take part are, Bappa Lahiri-Taneesha (wife), Pooja Gor-Raj Singh Arora, Suhasi Dhami-Jay (husband) and Karan Mehra-Nisha Rawal (fiance).

Salman Khan gets rid of his bad habits after constant nagging jaw pain

Looks like Salman Khan, who underwent treatment for his nerve ailment last year, still suffers from nagging jaw pain. Latest buzz coming from a source near to the actor has that Salman has been paying more attention to his health nowadays and recently stopped alcohol consumption.

Sources say, "Though his surgery for the nerve ailment went well, the pain in the jaw keeps troubling him. Since he's taking medicines for that, he's decided to stop drinking altogether. Besides, he's not smoking either."

Few say that the nerve trouble has set off an alarm in the actor's mind, as a result of which he's believed to have become more health conscious. "When Salman was shooting for his TV show Bigg Boss 6 in Lonavala and upcoming film Dabangg in Satara, his sister Alvira would ensure that home-made food was sent for him to the locations," said a source.

It is said that the actor doesn't let anyone around him smoke. "He snaps at anyone who lights up in front of him," said our source. Meanwhile, even his closest friend-cum-brother Sanjay Dutt has also reduced drinking drastically. The actor, who used to like his evening drink, has now started drinking just once a week, say his friends.

"Sanju has lost around 15 kilos and he has become a health freak," says one of his friends. "He hasn't been able to quit smoking completely but he goes for long spells of time without a drink."

The word spontaneous perfectly describes her nature of work and no one can doubt the acting prowess of Sandhya Mridul, who easily fits into any role offered.

From small screen to the glamorous world of Bollywood, Sandhya has carved a niche for herself and is admired by all for the quality of work she possesses. It is notable that she started her career on small screen and became household name with shows like Swabhimaan, Banegi Apni Baat, Koshish and Hu Ba Hu. Her show, Koshish Ek Asha in which she played the role of the female protagonist was telecast in China and that made her a household name there. Talking of the present era, she says, "I feel these are exciting times for the Hindi film industry. Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II was ahead of time. But I must say it was wonderful doing films like Page 3. It makes me happy to see the newer ways of telling ways which just don't follow a pattern."

Revealing about herself more as a person, she said, "I am an extremely spontaneous person. I have gambled in life. Even though I was in a well-paying corporate job, there was restlessness within me. I just wanted to act and that was my true calling”.
