In order to create a niche and make a mark on the hearts of the audience, Neha went an extra mile to think out of the box and performed accordingly. The actress grabbed eyeballs by dancing to the beats of Dhunki, Bachchu and Aazma etc.

Neha spoke on the same saying, "I am trying to break away from the usual and the ordinary performances, something that is expected out of all of us and I am trying to push the button and do.”

Vidya Balan to play a housewife in Ghanchakkar!

Vidya Balan to play a housewife in Ghanchakkar
After basking in the success of her recent consecutive hits The Dirty Picture and Kahaani, the hit machine of Bollywood, Vidya Balan is set for a new challenge.

As known, Vidya has now signed her No One Killed Jessica director Rajkumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar, where she will once again team up with her TDP co-star Emraan Hashmi. Buzz has it that this time around the sultry Silk of B’wood will go homely as she plays a housewife in Ghanchakkar.

One of the sources close to the project said, "So far the roles that have defined Vidya's career have all found her playing women placed in extraordinary circumstances. In Ghanchakkar she plays an average woman. Nothing dramatic like a murder or a mysterious disappearance happens to her in the script”.

The sources further added, "Both Rajkumar and Vidya feel that playing an ordinary woman is a special challenge for Vidya at this stage of her career when she has played a number of extraordinary characters. However, Gupta is being pressurized to modify and amplify Vidya's part”.

Talking to the sources about Emraan also being a major part of the film, Gupta said, "Emraan Hashmi has just delivered a string of hits. Ghanchakkar is not Vidya's film alone. It is Emraan's film in an equal measure. Vidya is fine with sharing the limelight”. As heard, Gupta will be shooting Ghanchakkar with Vidya on the streets of Mumbai with hidden cameras, just as he had shot with Rajeev Khandelwal for Aamir.

Looks like, we are set to watch another of a thrilling film with Vidya, Emraan and Gupta being at the helm of affairs!

Vidya Balan has been roped in for a clean picture
After mesmerizing the audience with her dirty acts in The Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan will now feature in a clean picture that is said to be ad films to propagate the government's sanitation programme.

Union Minister Jairam Ramesh has successfully roped in the celebrity as the brand ambassador to spread awareness about the drinking water and sanitation campaign, and he is hopeful that her involvement will make the campaign to end open defecation a national obsession.

"For an actor, what can be a better thing than doing a dirty picture on screen and off screen a clean picture. I think this role will work a lot because we are working on a national movement," Balan said after meeting Rural Development Minister Ramesh at his office.

"This is a clean picture (for Vidya Balan)," Ramesh quipped when sources present there asked Balan if people will like her in a role to end the menace of open defecation in the country, an issue closely related to women's health and security.

"I think it is a matter great honour for me, becoming the brand ambassador of sanitation campaign. It needs to become a national obsession. I am ready to (do it) in my capacity. I am convinced," Balan, who has won the national award for her role in The Dirty Picture this year, said.

Hope Vidya will do wonders with her clean picture!

Rakhi Sawant in Bengali remake of The Dirty Picture

Rakhi Sawant in Bengali remake of The Dirty Picture!

Rakhi Sawant in Bengali remake of The Dirty Picture
Blabber-mouthed Rakhi Sawant can be expected to do anything and there is absolutely no stoppage to her ways of bagging attention from paparazzi.

Post her controversial stints on TV and few of her hard hitting digs taken on people like Baba Ramdev and Pakistani starlet Veena Malik, Rakhi is now in news for her recent item number Latto and her act in the Bengali remake of The Dirty Picture.

Yes, TDP has turned to be a golden goose for all and no one wishes to let go off it easily. Buzz has it that the film will now be made in Bengali with the sensational Rakhi in lead. The remake will be directed by Shatabdi Roy, a Member of Parliament who as per Rakhi is someone as big as Amitabh, Jaya Bachchan or Rekha. The controversial babe says that the film will be dirtier and filthier than the original one and will surely bring a surprise for all the viewers.

Talking about her entry into the film, she stated that it was due to her item number in Bengali movie titled Om Shanti, she grabbed this meaty role. And now one will see Rakhi stepping into Vidya Balan’s shoes and reprising her act. Needless to say Rakhi is fully confident that her act would be far better than that of Vidya. She said, “l will do better and hotter scenes in the Bengali remake. Even Vidya will be surprised after seeing my character. I will be better than her. The sari is meant to be taken off in films, not worn. Films become a hit because of this, not because of stars”.

Whoops! She seems to be on high amigos!

Vidya Balan is likely to replace Priyanka in Karan Johar's next
One is never sure of staying at his words in the tinsel town as something might strike his eye anytime and plans might get altered. Future of any film can’t be predicted until and unless it hits the production floor.

Rumors keep on surrounding such ventures and every time we get to hear of a new film speculating a lot many tales. The latest one to join the list is Karan Johar’s untitled project to be helmed under Dharma Productions. Big buzz has it that the movie is based on the famous book The Immortals of Meluha. The main lead role in the movie has been bagged by Agneepath’s actor Hrithik Roshan and there is a little confusion about his co star.

Initially it was said that the actor wanted to be cast opposite his Krrish and Agneepath’s co -star Priyanka Chopra as he is comfortable shooting with her, but grapevines bring in the news that the director wants to cast Vidya Balan in the lead role.

Well, it is going to be difficult for them to decide between the two if the problem of choosing one persists. Let’s see who finally manages to be the goddess in the movie

Lavasa Women's Drive 2012

Lavasa Women's Drive 2012

The Lavasa Women's Drive is an annual, all-women car rally that drives to Lavasa, a planned hill city near Pune for a cause. This year the main cause was Cervical Cancer. I was invited too, not as a rally participant! [ no car, can't drive! :( ] but to see the rally & Lavasa itself. I rode with the Windchimes team & another blogger (who were awesome company, btw!)
So Sunday started super early, on the way to Bandra reclamation grounds (where the flag-off was happening) I was super excited to see many decorated cars (about Cervical Cancer Awareness) drive past.
Due to some unexpected delays on my part, I missed the flag off for the first ten or so cars. There were a total of 350 cars leaving from Mumbai & another 150 from Pune, all of the rally participants (drivers & passengers) had to be women.
It was wonderful to see all that positive energy on the grounds that morning. People were so lively & happy. :)
A lot of celebrities came to show their support- Diana Hayden, Emraan Hashmi, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Simran Mundi, Dilip Vengsarkar, Chunky Pandey, Sophie Choudry, Bhagyashree etc. Some just came to flag off & cheer participants, some even participated in the rally. I didn't click too many photos of the rally cars & I'm not even sure why? There were such wonderfully decorated cars, one was in support of the merchant navy (my dad is in the merchant navy!) & another one for breast cancer awareness had bras taped on the sides. Perhaps I was feeling sluggish but I really regret not taking photos of the cars. I do have some analog photos that I will share after I get the roll processed. The color theme was blue, there was a lot of blue visible everywhere! I loved all the blue balloons with cervical cancer awareness messages. After watching the flag off for a while we started our journey, I had heard that the road near Lavasa has too many ghats (i.e. very curvy) so I took my motion sickness pill well in advance, but it appeared that I was the only squeamish one in the car. We stopped on the Mumbai-Pune expressway for snacks, I was happy to be able to pick up Maganlal Chikki (the oldest & most renowned chikki brand!) for my mom. All of us chit chatted a little along the way, but I was mostly admiring the view, it was so scenic.singer-actor Meiyang Chang sheepishly admitted to not have ever been seen so many women in one place. Just in time to coincide with Women’s day, winners of the 4th edition of the Lavasa Women’s drive rally were felicitated at a star studded Lavasa Women’s Drive Awards ceremony held over the weekend at a suburban Mumbai hotel. Laughter, tears, emotions and more prominently women power engulfed the atmosphere at the venue which saw around 600 women joining in to celebrate and talk about early detection, treatments, importance and awareness of cancer. The winners spoke candidly about their feelings towards the cause, experiences and their journey to carving their destiny and making a contribution to society at large. “Lavasa Women’s Drive” the annual women’s car rally that celebrates the spirit of women saw over 2000 women compete to emerge winners and also help spread the messages supporting various causes like cancer prevention, saving a girl child, conserving tiger and many more.
The awards night which began with actor Kunal Khemu presenting the winners with trophies and gifts, also saw an enthralling performance by Sophie Choudhary who had the audience swaying to her rendition of late Whitney Houston’s track.
Welcomed to the stage with loud cheers, Ali Zafar presented the top 3 awards.
The first ‘Lavasa Women’s Drive – Women in the Driving Seat Awards’ saw a galaxy of women from diverse fields such as cinema, Corporate, Healthcare, Education being recognized and honored for their immense contribution in their respective fields of work while also benefiting society.
Vidya Balan receiving award for her exemplary contribution to the field of cinema from Anil Kapoor, complimented Lavasa for organizing the rally. “Lavasa Women’s Drive celebrates the spirit of fun, adventure among women while promoting cancer awareness among women. I dedicate the women in the driving seat award to all women, who are driving vehicles of their own lives. I am really honoured to be part of the platform created by Lavasa for spreading awareness on a highly relevant social cause” she said.
Having been part of many women-centric films, Lajja being the most prominent, Anil Kapoor spoke about Mother Teresa being an inspiration for women all over the world for her selfless deeds. He further commended the great job done by the Lavasa team for helping women empowerment and educating on the life-threatening ailments.
LWD is a joint annual initiative of Bombay Times and Lavasa Corporation Ltd. MSD is the Associate Sponsor. MAK Lubricants, JMD Auto and Grabthebrand.com are the co-sponsors. Dove is hair care partner. Viira Cabs and Bank of India are other sponsors. This drive is supported by Women’s Cancer Initiative, Tata Memorial Hospital, and conducted by WIAA. This is an initiative of the Times Red Cell.
