Mitil Jain and Gopi Desai to feature in Apne Toh Apne Hote Hai on life ok

In the recent past we have come across many new shows projected to hit the screens once this ongoing IPL mania gets over.

Amongst the speculated list of new daily soaps going live, we have got one on Life OK, which marks the return of Kavyanjali fame Anita Hassanandani. Helmed by Beyond Dreams, it has been titled as Apne Toh Apne Hote Hai and will also feature the extremely talented Mona Ambegaonkar in a crucial role.

And now we have come to know of few more names joining the existing star cast. Sources said that Mitil Jain –currently part of Pavitra Rishta (Zee TV) – and Gopi Desai – who is seen in Saas Bina Sasural on Sony TV and Choti Bahu on Zee TV, will be seen in pivotal roles in the daily.

Talking about the plot of the show, a source stated that it is a story of two families out of which one will be situated in an urban city while the other will reside in a small town. Mitil is going to be seen in a negative character Thakur while Gopi Desai will play Thakur’s bhabhi (sister-in-law) and her character too will have grey shades.

From last few days, all the ardent fans of Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon had been trying to know the surprise entry in the show.

Well, all their anxiety must have come to an end with yesterday’s episode showing child artist Dhriti Bhatia making an entry in the show as Bubbly aka Miss B. it is notable that Dhriti was last seen portaying Lord Krishna and with IPKKND she is getting back to acting. She is to be seen as Akash’s (Akshay Dogra) cousin and will share a great rapport with him, the glimpse of which you must have already witnessed in the show.

Moreover, her presence in the house would see many changes taking place. Firstly, Bubbly might create a little disturbance in the passive life of Payal (Deepali Pansare) and Akash. Furthermore, one can even expect the little one to play a cupid for our favorite Arnav (Barun Sobti) and Khushi (Sanaya Irani). As seen, Khushi has already troubled Arnav a lot playing the ideal wife for him.

However, with Arnav fainting due to his sugar level going down, Khushi’s plan might get backfired. She may try hard to hide her love and concern for Arnav but the fact it that she can’t bear him getting hurt and that too because of her silly antics. Despite a lot of effort being made by Anjali (Daljeet Bhanot) and Nani, the relation between Arnav and Khushi is still the same.

The popular mythological show of Life OK, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev based on the eternal love saga of Shiv and Sati has successfully completed its 100 episodes.

But with the recent track of Shiv (Mohit Raina) and Sati's (Mouni Roy) marriage, the schedule became so hectic that the actors could not manage a proper celebration. However the makers of the show, Nikhil and Suhana Sinha escaped out of the situation and threw a party at their house.

Elated with the show’s success, Suhana talked to the sources and shared, “The experience was really great. But the highlight of it was that the cast made it to the party at around 2 am, after their pack-up. We cut a cake which was followed by dinner. I must admit we all had a great time.”

Talking about the future tracks of the show, she shared, “Shiv’s story is never ending. As of now, we have just started the Sati phase, after this we would show the Parvati phase, so the audiences will surely get to see a lot of interesting things in the future.”

Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, the most popular dance show of Indian Television is all set to shake the dancing chords of the audience once again. Big buzz is that the rocking dance show is graduating to a new season and this time it will be aired on Colors instead of Sony TV.

For season five of the show, producers are looking for different names and the latest news making its way is that they have approached Nicole Alvares as a choreographer. It is notable that Nicole formed a smoking hot dancing pair with Karan Singh Grover in season 3 of JDJ and their stunning performance set the sparks fly. Being impressed with her, the producers have decided to rope in her again as a choreographer for current season.

On being quizzed, Nicole added, “I have been associated with Jhalak for the past 3 season and I have been approached this year as well, but I haven't yet decided whether to take it up. I am already tied up with many things, but let see how things shape up."

Rajshree Production, with their show Jhilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga has brought into industry a new and fresh face in the form of Shreya Jha aka Angna.

The actress has done a south Indian film and when she gave auditions and got selected she was reluctant to work in a daily soap plus she was afraid whether she would be able to justify the character or not. But nevertheless, she is today playing her part very efficiently and all credit goes to Kavita Barjatya and Rajshree for trusting her abilities.

The actress shares her experience by saying, “Everyone speaks very highly of Rajshri Productions and once I started working with them, I realized that every word is true. The team reflects the ideas and methods that are implemented by their motivator, so all the positivity and structure is passed down from Kavitaji to the entire team,”

She further adds, “I was unable to realize in the beginning what I was getting into. But now that I see my hoarding all around the town, the reviews and appreciation, the feeling is finally sinking in. I am similar to Angna in many ways”.

Praising her co-stars, she stated, “The moment you enter the set there is a positive atmosphere. Also I am new to the entire set up so everyone is very helpful Pankaj (playing Akash in the show) is a wonderful person. I can discuss with him about the scenes and we even rehearse and share feedback. There is a comfort level with him and that shows on screen”.

As per the industry sources the star cast was very excited on cake cutting ceremony and they enjoyed the day to its fullest. Moreover, they didn’t leave a stone unturned to make the first birthday of their show very special.

D3 is a soap opera being aired on Channel [V]; its subject is based on the ambitions and desires of today’s youth. The story of the serial revolves around a small town girl who heads to Mumbai to fulfill her only dream i.e. Dance. During her journey she makes friends (DOSTI) and falls in love (DIL). She goes through various kinds of relationships while struggling for her dreams.

To express their love they sent gifts on the first anniversary of the show and the stars were overwhelmed to get such presents crafted with lots of hard work and dedication. Sources further add that there were special gifts for their favourite actors Swayam (Shantanu Maheshwari) and Sharon (Sneha Kapoor). Most interesting part is that their Arab fans thanked the creative head on giving them a charming and wonderful couple; Swaron (Swayam and Sharon). They requested the couple to make dance moves on hindi song Hai Rama and on an English/Japnese song Sad Tango.

Other than that, the show even boasts of some seasoned actors making a comeback. The likes of   Narayani Shastri and Varun Badola are standing as the star stealers of it. And now we have heard that the makers have got in one more celebrated name.

Buzz has it that Punjabi actress Vandana Singh, who has been a part of the hit Punjabi daily soap on ETC Punjabi titled Ankhiyan Toh Door Jayen Na, is all set to enter the daily. She has also shared screen space with ex-Bigg Boss contestant, Claudia Ciesla, for an upcoming Punjabi movie Veer Pardesi. She will play Champa, the only girl having an affair and will stay away from the Sar Dhakai ceremony of the Thakurs.

Vandana said, “Actually it was not planned to take up a Hindi daily soap though I always dreamt of it. But recently I came down to Mumbai and my friend took me for the auditions and I was selected to play Champa. I always wanted to witness how Hindi TV industry works as I have earlier worked only in the Punjabi industry. And it’s great to get associated with this series. I am sure I would get to learn a lot from the veteran co-actors.”

In 2008, Hindi entertainment channel, Imagine TV was launched by NDTV with great pomp and fervor but now it seems that the things are not taking the desired shape. The latest news making its way is that due to falling TRPs the channel has decided to call it quits.

According to the reports, the channel has failed to live up to the expectations of the audience and it is not getting the desired response. Presently, it is going through the phase of commotion and trouble. To keep them on a halt it has finally decided to give up. It is notable that Imagine TV had a tie up with Karan Johar; filmmaker was roped in as a brand ambassador and creative consultant. Unfortunately, it didn’t bring any sweet fruit for the channel.

In 2009, the troubled channel was bought over by Turner Broadcasting System but it also couldn’t create any magic to survive the falling TRPs. Now, the speculations are on the rife that Imagine TV is going to bid adieu soon. A little birdie from the town said that the two outdoor shoots of shows Shani Dev ki Mahima and Dwarkadheesh has also been cancelled. Though there is no official confirmation from the creative team of the channel yet but if it happens then the viewers would really miss their favorite shows!

Let us see what happens to Imagine’s present shows and the eye ball bagging one like Swayamvar, which for this season was supposed to hunt a groom for Veena Malik!

Needless to say such episodes do win huge TRP points. Buzz has it that the makers of Pavitra Rishta (Balaji Telefilms) and Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli (Rajshri Productions) are teaming up together. Sources say that both the production houses have decided to merge the storylines of their two respective shows and air a Mahasangam episode on 17 April 2012.

A source said, “In Yahaan Main….the men of the Prasad family are about to meet with an accident and on the other hand, Tejaswini (Mrinalini Tyagi) will also meet with the same doom in Pavitra Rishta. Both the shows will merge in a very fast action-packed special episode.

As seen Tejaswini is working as a cab driver. Her boss will get an invitation to attend a function at Ujjain and the appointed driver for the journey will get unwell. Hence, Tejaswini will be the replacement to handle the wheels and unfortunately, on the way to the destination her car will meet with an accident. She will be rushed to a nearby hospital. Now, the men from the Yahaan Main…will also be admitted in the same hospital.

Tejaswini’s mishap news will make Manav (Hiten Tejwani)-Archana (Ankita Lokhande) leave for Ujjain and visit the hospital. Once there, they will donate blood to save the lives of the men of the Prasad family.

So don’t give this Mahasangam a miss!

Those of you who have been wondering as to what has gone wrong with Surili from Garima Productions’ Lapataganj aired on SAB TV as she isn’t seen on the show of late, then let us tell you that it’s because she is no more a part of the show.

Buzz has it that Preeti Amin who plays Surili in the show has opted out of it and has even submitted her papers to the production house. Having left with no other option, the CVs ended up bringing the track of Surili missing in the show as well.

While talking to the sources, Preeti said, “Yes, I have quit Lapataganj. The reason for this move is that I have been associated with this sitcom for nearly two years now. I wanted to try something different but because of my association with Lapataganj, I missed on a lot of opportunities. So I decided to quit the show and can now take up a new show.”

On the other end Sucheta Khanna, who essays Indumati in this series, wants her to come back. She said, “I have heard that she is no more part of our show. But I just hope that she comes back because Surili is one of the important characters in the series.”

As Gajendra Singh gears up for his debut fiction show, Ghar Aaja Pardesi Tera Des Bulaye scheduled to be aired on Sahara One; we have got some latest updates about the daily.

Last we had informed you about the show roping in popular faces like Vikram Gokhale, Smita Jaykar and Mahesh Thakur to essay pivotal roles in the show. And now we have hit the jackpot as the names of the lead actors are no more unbeknownst to us.  An industry insider has updated that Aryeman Bhatia, last seen in Yeh Ishq Haaye as a parallel lead will essay the male lead in the show.

While the female lead will be played by Ruchi Savarn seen in shows like Zindagi Kahe... Smile Please and Tere Liye. In the daily she will play daughter to Mahesh Thakur. 

Aryeman Bhatia confirmed the buzz and said, “Yes, I will be part of Ghar Aaja Pardesi. We have already shot for the show, but I can’t reveal much about my character at the moment.” And Ruchi expressed her thoughts saying, “My character is a lovable one but I don’t think it would be right time to divulge any details.”

Buzz has it that Fremantle Media’s Zindagi Ke Haqeeqat Se Aamna Saamna aired on Colors is going off air. It is notable that this reality show proved as a platform where we got to see experts catering to the problems faces by families in their day to day life.     

The concept was appreciated by all and its TRPs were also quite decent. But as we say all good things have to end one day and same is happening with Aamna Saamna. The show will bid adieu to its fans in the last week of May. However, delightful news is that it will come back with a season two.    

As per a source, “The cast and crew will start its shooting for season two by early May and episodes will air immediately after closure of the first season”.

The creatives might not be bringing in some major twist in the story but the way they are focusing at the minutest aspect of Khushi (Sanaya Irani) and Arnav’s (Barun Sobti) relation, it seems that they indeed want the love-hate tale to turn out as the most possessed treasure for the two.

As seen last in Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Khushi has got a new way of passing her time at Rayzada house. Despite knowing the fact that Arnav hates kids, she got in her tuition kids there and was seen gelling up with them very well. She narrated them the Sundari and Shaitan tale, which seemed as the reflection of her own life with Arnav.

While telling them the tale she even ended up confessing the Shaitan in the story being her Prince too but as always, this too hasn’t succeeded in making any impact on Arnav. However, Anjali (Daljeet Bhanot) has yet again sensed the trouble between Arnav and Khushi. The letters exchanged by the two via the kids made Anjali judge the whole matter. And she might prove to be the reason behind Khushi behaving as the ideal patni for Arnav.

Anyway, moving further, buzz has it that in the coming episodes Khushi will again trouble him with her antics but things would turn the other way round. Arnav, who has blood sugar, will skip his meals in the day and at dinner too he would get nothing, courtesy our dear Khushi. Consequently, his sugar level will go down and he’ll faint. Well, this would be enough to panic Khushi as she won’t be able to see him suffering like this.

In the past too they both had experienced the same situation wherein Khushi had helped him out! Let us see if this brings in some change in their relation!

Thanks to its interesting storyline, the show still makes the viewers sit glued to their couches. As seen recently, the Modi family is facing a turmoil wherein Baa has divided the house in two parts. She has sensed the trouble brewing between Kokila and Hetal and in order to bring their proximity back, she is plotting this way along with Gopi aka Giaa Manek and Rashi played by Ruccha.

This indeed has risen up its TRPs and what we have heard from town makes us believe that the coming episodes will spice up more. Buzz has it that CVs are now planning to bring Ira Soni back in the show. It is notable that Ira played Anita in the daily, who incidentally was in love with Ahem.

However, their relation couldn’t turn into marriage and the lovers had to separate. But now Anita is making a return and we might see Gopi’s paradise facing the commotion.  Though it hasn’t been made clear whether she will aim at wining Ahem back or she has some other motive.

Though we have by now come across all the characters in the daily but one person was seen missing from the light. Yes, it’s Veer we are talking about. As known, Nandish Sandhu has opted out of the show due to the leap it took and now CVs have planned to revive Veer’s character.

If believe the sources then Vikas Bhalla will play Veer Singh Bundela now onwards. As per a source, "After Nandish Sandhu made an exit from the show we had to look for a replacement character that could fill in the void. Vikas Bhalla who was last seen in Zee TV's Sanjog Se Bani Sangini will now play Veer's character. Veer's character will be shown in a state of coma."

Confirming the news, Vikas said, “Yes I am playing Veer's character and he is one of the protagonists in the show. The show has is now 3 years old and is running strong. So, when I got the opportunity to be a part of it, I took it up without hesitation”.

But the actor was found missing from limelight as soon as MJHT got over. In between, there was a buzz which talked of Mohit making a comeback via fiction shows. However, nothing was heard much about it later. Well, if you too had been eagerly waiting for Mohit’s return then this piece of news is surely going to delight you all.

It has been learnt from insiders that Mohit’s comeback tool is going to be Star Plus’ Khamoshiyan, which will showcase a much mature love tale. Buzz has it that this show will go live once IPL 5 gets over as the makers don’t want to compromise with the ratings of it. Mohit too is quite keen about the show and while talking to the sources about it he shared, “It is a dramatic love story based on an NRI who is from London. It is a fast paced, crisp story that I believe will strike a chord with the audience”.

When quizzed about how the character in Khamoshiyan differs from Samrat of Miley…, he stated, "Playing Samrat was a dream but the character I play here is totally different. As an actor you want to push your boundaries and try and essay different characters. I look forward to playing some challenging roles in future as well”.

UTV Productions’ Shubh Vivah aired on Sony Entertainment Television is already experiencing some high tide drama and looks like CVs have planned for some more twists.

As seen, Saroj (Neha Janpandit) is not enjoying a happy married life as her husband Amrit (Eijaz Khan) has an illegitimate relation with Sarla (Aashka Goradia). To double up her worries, Amrit is just not fond of Saroj and never leaves a chance of hurling insults at her.

If that was not enough, the further episodes of the show will see Amrit’s mother Kaushalaya (Meenakshi Verma) creating ruckus in Saroj’s already troubled life. Going as per the current track, Saroj has gone to her house for the pag phera rasam. Sources say that once she returns back to her sasural, she will bring along lots of jewellery. Later, her mother-in-law will find that the ornaments are all fake and this will make her fume in anger. 

She will get very upset about the whole matter and will declare that she will not stay under the same roof with Saroj. When Neha was asked about the track, she said, “Yes, some drama will definitely unfold in this daily in the near future, but I can’t reveal any of it. You will have to wait and watch.”

As known, Sameer had molested Mandira and this had made Indira to fight the court case against Sameer.  The court drama seen so far has made the viewers stick to their couches in anticipation to hear the verdict of the same. Producer Dharmesh Mehta said, “It’s one of the most entertaining subjects and I chose very common looking characters to fit the role. And one thing is sure that common man’s problems are never ending and it will go on. We were sure it would go on till 100 episodes. Buzz states that Gaurav will play the role of Aman. His character will have various shades and he will join the two lovely ladies in the college. There he will befriend them slowly and will eventually divulge his self-regulating personality to them. He will be seen as someone who believes in paying for his own education despite coming from a rich family. And the viewers will see Aman aka Gaurav working as a part-time pizza delivery boy to manage his finances.

Talking to sources he said, “I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to be a part of one of the most-watched shows on Indian television, Uttaran. To get into the skin of the character, I have been insisting that everyone on the sets addresses me as Aman instead of Gaurav. Aamir Khan has earned the tag of perfectionist in Bollywood with his sheer hard work and dedication as this actor leaves no mark in making his work do the talking, whether it applies to his films or say his much-awaited debut Television show!

Considering the kind of benchmarks Aamir Khan has set as far his films are concerned, it seems he doesn't want to make any compromise for his debut television show as well.

The channel, on which his show Satyamev Jayate will be aired, had apparently blocked all the 2,000 slots for the broadcaster's promos in 27 hours -- totally valued at Rs 6.25 crore. It is learnt that while this is a one-day exercise, it's more than the money spent on any other celebrity-hosted show on any given day.

Although Aamir is known for the manner in which he markets his big screen projects, a source associated with the production said that the promo was his baby too.

Grapevine is abuzz, 2,000 promo slots from Monday to Tuesday, across all the broadcasters' channels, were booked for Aamir's show. The source said, "From these slots, if one were to translate the airtime into revenue, it's worth Rs 6.25 crore," adding that this is the highest ever for any star show.

First Star One revamped into Life OK and now we are again hearing of the new channel gearing for some do ups. It is notable that Life OK tried to do things in a different manner and brought some innovation with its shows.

Be it the time slot of twenty minutes, roping Madhuri Dixit as the narrator for the shows or even airing the shows seven days a week, everything was done with proper planning. And now we hear that the channel is set for another change in its programming. Going by the buzz, post axing Zindagi Kahe Smile Please owing to its poor TRPs, Life OK will show the doors to Meri Maa and Tum Dena Saath Mera. Both the shows will see their last telecast on April 22, 2012. 

Well, this is not just it as there are further surprises to come from the channel’s end. We had already informed you about Shapath going bi-weekly. Sources say that it will air for one hour on Saturdays and for two hours on Sundays from 23 April 2012 for a month. After that, this show will air for an hour on both these days at 9 pm.

Shows like Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev, Amrit Manthan, Main Laxmi Tere Aangan Ki, Dil Se Di Dua… Saubhagyavati Bhav and Aasman Se Aage would air for 30 Minutes for five days a week. Later, one can expect more changes to be incorporated by the channel.

One of the sources close to the production house updated that during the 35th wedding anniversary of Pradeep’s parents, Alok and Suhasi, the whole family will be in a blissful mood. The couple will renovate their wedding vows and Suhasi will suggest Mona to do just the same. However, things will take a new turn as Anushka will land up at the same hotel, only to meet Pradeep.

Both Pradeep and Anushka will head towards a different room and Mona will be seen following them. Anushka will move out of the room angrily and Pradeep will follow her. This will tense Mona and she too will walk behind them. On the way, Pradeep and Anushka will meet with an accident and land up in a hospital. Anushka will be in a critical condition and while Pradeep will plead before the doctor to heal her claiming her to be his first love, Mona will overhear it.

Sources even added that this show is the remake of hit Bengali drama Romonir Gune (Star Jalsa). Helly will play the role of the female lead, Lakshmi, who will be very naughty and mischievous in nature and will be someone who never cries in life. It is a family drama about three brothers and their household fights. The outdoor shooting of the show will begin after 11 April 2012 in Wai, near Pune.

When sources contacted Helly she said, “Yes, I have been approached for the role but I can’t comment anything as it’s too early to talk about it.”

The movie was launched this Tuesday at Posh Hotel in Mumbai where Emraan Hashmi made a starry entry shooting into a big glass placed on the stage out of which the actress Esha Gupta came out walking with director Kunal Deshmukh.

He said that the movie will not be scared of IPL while releasing alongside the event. He said, “Last time, even Jannat was released during IPL and there was so much buzz about the tournament at that time. Despite of IPL, all the theatres were almost full... we had almost got 100 per cent opening for Jannat. We are hoping it continues for Jannat 2 as well. We are not scared of IPL... but IPL should be scared of us.”

“Jannat 2 is about arms trade but it's not some serious expose or anything like that. In fact what people should also look out for is the chemistry between Emraan and Esha. I feel everyone will talk about that once they watch them on the big screen,” added the actor.

Let’s see if this movie manages to grab the eyeballs and turns a hit at box office like the prequel did.

Moreover, getting the opportunity to work with a veteran like Tiku Talsania is a big achievement. Though I can’t reveal the entire story of the movie all I can say is that it’s a sweet love story. After sharing screen space with her sister Gauhar Khan in "The Khan Sisters", actress Nigaar Z. Khan is set to enter fiction show "Sapno Ke Bhanwar Mein" in a negative role.

Nigaar's glamorous character will be called Rangoli. She is shown as one who has travelled the world, has a superiority complex, is rude and picks on people and their ways.

"I simply love my character Rangoli in the show. It's very interesting as my character will bring great conflict in the show," Nigaar said in a press statement.

The actress, who has earlier featured in "Mitwa - Phool Kamal Ke", will play the wife of Brij Bhushan, who falls in love with the protagonist Pooja.

"I will enter just when Pooja and Brij confess their love for each other. I am very jubilant about 'Sapno Ke Bhanwar Mein'," she added.

The show, which airs on Life OK, narrates the story of an ambitious small town girl Pooja, and how she gets embroiled in the dirty game of politics.

Gaurav Gera, Shweta Gulati in Bollywood musical ''Jhumroo'

TV actors Gaurav Gera and Shweta Gulati are set to play lead roles in "Jhumroo", a Bollywood musical show inspired by legendary singer Kishore Kumar's songs. It will be showcased at the Kingdom of Dreams here from next month.

Gaurav is popular for having played Nandu in hit series "Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin", while Shweta is best remembered as Tia Ahuja in "Remix".

According to a source, both the actors have shifted base from Mumbai to Gurgaon, the capital suburb, for training and rehearsals.

After the success of "Zangoora: The Gypsy Prince", which featured Hussain Kuwajerwala, Gauhar Khan and Kashmira Irani, the Great Indian Nautanki Company, a joint venture between Wizcraft International Entertainment and Apra Group of Companies, is geared to launch "Jhumroo" next month. The date is not finalised yet.

Inspired by late maverick actor-singer Kishore Kumar, the musical comedy is packed with 19 Bollywood retro songs. While "Zangoora" incorporated songs from various eras of Bollywood, the prime attraction of "Jhumroo" is the evergreen music of Kishore da.

The story revolves around young boy Bhola, who leads a simple life in Mumbai. Bhola has just two dreams - first, to be a singing superstar and second, to express his love to Meena, a co-worker at the ad agency. Shweta plays Meena.

The musical, to be staged at the Nautanki Mahal of Kingdom of Dreams, is conceptualised and directed by Vikranth Pawar, the associate director of "Zangoora".

According to the ongoing track, Mami has stolen the golden bangles of Megha by replacing them with fake one. But unfortunately Mami’s son Tusshar will overhear her conversation and will come to know about the real facts and will later inform Megha, and eventually Aaji will come to know about everything.

The scene will further feature a party in Leela's house, where Sakshi will go wearing the same bangles. Here both the ladies will come face to face, an Aaji will accuse her of stealing the bangles, but Sakshi will continuously deny. At this point Leela will intervene and suggest checking the purity of the bangle by rubbing it against a stone and ultimately it would be proved that bangles are indeed original.

Talking of the track, Shreya said, “Sakshi is a very mean lady and she can go up to any extent. Now, whether the reality behind bangles is revealed or not, is something you will have to wait and watch.”

Rajshree Production's upcoming show, which is yet to get a title, has already roped in many popular faces like Mukesh Khanna, Ashlesha Sawant  and Mansi Salvi.

The latest buzz coming our way states that the makers have now got in names like of Nitish Pandey who is playing Armaan in Sony entertainment's show Kuch To Log Kahenge and Kunwar Aziz who is seen in Saajan Ghar Jana Hai.

Sources reveal that Kunwar Aziz will be playing the father of female lead Pankhuri (Disha Parmar), while Nitish will be the father of Aditya (Nakhul Mehta).

He will play a Stand-up comedian in the show who is jolly and easy going person who values creativity and art over money, his wife will be played by Mansi Salvi who is a rich and arrogant lady, which will result in their separation after marriage.

When contacted, Nitish, confirmed the news and said, “It is a very interesting character of a person who lives by his ideologies. I took the project because the role was very different and the channel and production house are very nice and co-operative.”

GiMA Awards includes new categories - Pop, Rock, Dance and Ghazal this year

The Chevrolet Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) Awards is all set to kick off its third edition by inviting entries. GiMA provides a unified platform to celebrate and recognise those who push the boundaries of Indian Music, across a wide range of film and non-film music genres. This year, for the first time, GiMA has included new categoriesin Pop, Rock, Dance and Ghazal, making it a total of 13 awards in the non-film music categories and 10 awards for film music. With greater representation of Indie artistes, GiMA has incorporated more contemporary music this year.


Speaking on the occasion, GiMA Advisory Board member and eminent singer-music director Shankar Mahadevan said, “GiMA has been a pioneering effort to bring together the entire music industry on one illustrious platform to honor artists and musicians in front of their peers. I am personally very excited about the new categories being introduced this year. With the emergence of digital platforms and new channels for music discovery, exposure to newer genres of music is also picking up. GiMA is anexcellent platform to encourage new-age talent; it is a great way of nurturing music and talent across traditional and contemporary genres.”


Music labels, film producers and independent artistes are now invited to enter music released between 1st April 2011 and 31st March 2012. The GiMA entry process is completely online wherein participants can fill and submit their forms at www.gima.co.in.

Some of the eminent names from the Academy who would vote for the final winners in a secret ballot process include Javed Akhtar, Dr L Subramanium, Pt Shivkumar Sharma, Shubha Mudgal, Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Mukesh Bhatt, Kailash Kher, Lesle Lewis, Salim Merchant, Sulaiman Merchant to name a few. The Academy’s votes are then tabulated by KPMG, who are the process auditors for GiMA.


Looking back, GiMA has staged some of the most memorable acts by bringing great artistes and musicians together at this very prestigious award ceremony. Year 2011 saw music maestro A R Rahman being felicitated with the ‘Global Musician Honour’ while India’s young music icon Sonu Nigam bagged the ‘Youth Music Icon’ title. Other key highlights of 2011 included the live orchestra duo-performance act by none other than legendary music composer Pyarelalji along with Sonu Nigam on some of the most unforgettable Laxmikant-Pyarelal hits from the golden era. Also, one cannot forget the beautiful Priyanka Chopra’s tribute to the industry’s talented female playback singers where Kavita Krishnamurthy, Rekha Bhardwaj, Usha Uthup and Sunidhi Chauhan sang live to her spectacular performance.
