Bridge cameras are being
manufactured for the people who seek an easy picture capturing
experience with a feel of the DSLR cameras (Digital Single Lens Reflex
cameras).
The bridge cameras are attractive due to their telephoto lenses which give high digital zooms. One such camera, which looks like a DSLR camera is the Fujifilm FinePix SL300, which is the bridge camera type. The FujiFilm’s this product is quite awesome and can be used as a professional camera for capturing pictures and videos. So, let me discuss the features and specs of this camera in FujiFilm FinePix SL300 review.
The design of a device is the major concern for a buyer as it also stands for equal importance like its features. So, talking about this camera looks and design, the SL300 has been designed so as to provide extra comfort to the users, which can capture images and videos with single hand also, without any stretch to fingers and thumb.
The camera has got the rubber material all around. When seen from
the front side with its lens opened, the textured rubber grip can
easily be seen and a ring of rubber around the lens gives the feel of a
DLSR camera, which in reality is the fixed one. However, the front part
has the plastic material also. The rear of the camera is made up of the
rubber material for good grip and same is with the top and the side
parts.
With the detailed looks review, I shall now start from the top of
the camera which has various keys and modes, with which one can capture
better pictures accordingly. The mode dial is present on the top of the
camera that can be rotated accordingly in order to capture in various
modes. The modes of the camera are A= Auto, SP= Scene Presets, P=
Panorama, C= Custom, M= Movie Recording mode and others. There is an
additional F-Mode button to the right of the mode dial. These modes can
be operated from the thumb.
Below the ON/Off button, the 14 MP size of the camera has been designated in white color. The index finger plays its role while using the hotkeys having the drive mode and the cropping.
In the rear side, there is a 3 Inches LCD monitor display which
shares about 60% of the area. There are various buttons present on the
right of the LCD. The d-pad is the round ring of buttons, which has the
keys of delete, flash, self timer and macro. Above the LCD, there is an
eyecap and toggle button between EVF and LCD. The other buttons on the
rear panel include the brightness control button, info display and
playback.
Camera Ability
The camera has 14 MP size. The lens of the camera has the focal length of 24 mm at the widest end which extends up to 720 mm at the telephoto end. The camera features 30x optical zoom functionality. For the zooming feature, the additional zoom lever has been equipped on the left of the camera.
Performance
The performance of a camera is judged by the pictures captured on the vvbasis of a parameter namely ISO. The camera can capture pictures up to ISO 6400. When we started capturing pictures at ISO 64, the pictures were quite vibrant and were visible and the same continued till ISO 400.
With the experiments from ISO 800, ISO 1600 and ISO 3200, the pictures started introducing some noise with red colored dots. The lower resolution images were captured at ISO 3200 and ISO 6400.
Overall the device performs quite well in performance area with its good quality pictures and videos as well. The 1280×720 pixels resolution videos can also be captured through SL300.
Bottom Line
The FujiFilm FinePix SL300 is a good choice for the people who want to buy a bridge camera. There are some more alternatives to this camera- Sony Cyber-Shot HX200V and Canon PowerShot SX240HS.
