Comedy films are the flavour of the season and cashing the present taste Rajat Kapoor is set to bring Fatso, a slice of life rib tickling comedy that takes a foray into the idea of identity.
Starring Ranvir Shorey, Gul Panag, Purab Kohli, Neil Bhoopalam and Gunjan Bakshi, Fatso takes audiences through an accidental incident that leads to Purab Kohli and the 300 pound protagonist, played by Ranvir Shorey, into exchanging lives between heaven and earth.
Hysterical, intelligent, honest, Fatso is all about love packaged in with a calorie count. Talking about the film, director Rajat Kapoor says, "This script has been with me for about three years and I have always felt that this might be the most commercial film that I have done so far. Once in a while you get tickled by an idea that has the potential to be liked by a huge number of people. I believe Fatso has that potential."
The out and out comedy is already a subject of heated discussion overseas, having traveled to several international festivals including the South Asian International Film Festival in New York, Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and Shanghai International Film Festival amongst many others. The film was chosen as recipient of the prestigious Golden Palm Award at the Mexico International Film Festival.
Fatso is a delightful take on love, life, romance and the occasional accident of death and it arrives at a theatre near you on May 4, 2012. So, do watch once it hit the screens
