With Imagine TV shutting down unexpectedly, many of its shows also met the same end. But luckily, Chandragupta Maurya, which created a lot of buzz since it went off air, has managed to find a new channel ready to air it.
As we had last updated you, Sony TV has brought the rights of the show and is all willing to air the historical saga. But buzz even states that show’s lead, Ashish Sharma aka Chandragupta Maurya, won’t be a part of it as he has moved on with Jay Mehta's next on Zee TV.
While one was finding Jay Mehta’s show as the reason behind Ashish’s absence from Maurya, the actor refuted saying that his contract with the makers (Sagar Arts and 72 Degree Northe) would have come to an end. He added, "If the show would have continued, I would have hoped that it ended by my contract period so that I could chase my dream of producing short films”.
Ashish even said, "It was unfortunate that the show shut down. We were all working towards the part where Chandragupta would become the king. I am not sure if the show will come on another channel or not. Even if it does, it will not start before July and by then my contract would be over. I can’t continue for I have my above commitments which will get delayed by a year and a half and that is something which I can’t afford. I agree professional decisions are harsh to take but yet you need to go ahead with them”.
