The maker of films like Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal and the very recent one Rockstar, Imtiaz Ali is yet to begin his next directorial but the filmmaker would soon be seen as a present for Mangesh Hadawale's new movie Dekh Indian Circus.
Reports state that the film has already won the Best Picture award at the Busan Film Festival and Imtiaz is quite hopeful about it finding favor from the Indian movie goers too. He said, "After watching the film I realized it should reach the maximum audience. It's the most colorful way of showing the goings on of an Indian village. It is meaningful as well as an entertaining film”.
For the uninitiated, the film is a heart winning tale of a mother taking her children to the circus. It is Hadawale's second film after his debut directorial Tingya which had also won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. Talking more about the film, Imtiaz shared, "When you look at Indian films these days, most of them are very urban. It's ironic because the maximum population lives in villages. This film is set in a small village in the outskirts of Jaisalmer, representing the life there through extraordinary performances and stunning visuals”.
Interestingly, this is for the first time that Ali is a film which he has neither directed nor produced. When asked about the same, he said, "I am very embarrassed about my name being there as the presenter. I don't know how much it will help the film but I was approached by the director and the producer who wanted me to be attached to the film. I hope it works because it's a very good film”.
