Films motherly figure Achala Sachdev breathes her last!
Films motherly figure Achala Sachdev breathes her last!
It fills us with great grief as we inform you about yesteryear actor Achala Sachdev, who passed away in Pune on Monday April 30, 2012 at the age of 91.

As per reports, Sachdev was bed-ridden for the past seven months at Poona Hospital and Research Centre (PHRC). She had broken her left leg after a fall in her house nearly six months ago. A clot was diagnosed in the artery near her heart through an MRI scan, which eventually broke into small clots and made a place in her brain vessels.

Born on May 3, 1920, she made her film debut with Fashionable Wife in 1938 and acted in over 130 Hindi films in her career. It is notable that the veteran lady gained immense popularity playing the ideal mother to many of the yesteryear actors. She is most remembered for her elegant act as Balraj Sahni's wife in 1965 film Waqt and Kajol's grandmother in the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995.

The song from Waqt, Aye Meri Zohara Jabeen picturized on her and Balraj Sahni still stands to be a legendary music piece and seems to be getting young with each passing generation. The sophistication and motherly love is all gone now as Achala Sachdev rests peacefully in the arms of death. Film industry has faced another loss impossible to be recurred.

May the holy soul rest in peace!
